Hertz Drivers License Translation
Hi everyone, i am leaving to US for one month holiday. I need to rent a car there, i checked online, found seems i need a IDP, international driving permit from chinese goverment. I called several times, got answer like we do not have this kind of business, etc. Then i checked my driving licence, it is a renewed one, bilingual, with chinese and english. So that means Americans can read it. I am seeking if anyone can tell me or has experinces in renting car in US by using chinese driving license, if can not, what to do here before i leave?
Thanks in advance. Thank you guys. But got no place to get idp, perhaps just have my licence translated into english? Then I took it out from my car, found my renewed licence has english version under chinese character, like name, address, and date of issue and expire date, and it is obviously said driving licence from the people's republic of china. So i will try my luck to see if i can rent a car by showing them my chinese driving licence there, will inform you guys if it works. Hahahah anywya i found here is a good place to find solutions. Best regard June.

Seriously, you are very likely to be stopped by traffic police in the U.S.
If you do any one of a dozen things there that I see daily here. Apart from the fact that drivers in China routinely do things that are illegal in the U.S., traffic police are also much more diligent about enforcing these rules than in China. Here's a few things you need to be aware of: 1. If you are turning left at a red light, you must wait until oncoming traffic clears once the light turns green.
If you turn in front of oncoming traffic, you will be ticketed or arrested. If you miss your exit on the highway and attempt to back up, you will be ticketed or arrested. If you drive on the shoulder or in the bicycle lane, you will be ticketed or arrested. If you try to cut in line at an exit rather than queuing and waiting your turn, you might be ticketed. More likely, you will be physically dragged from your vehicle and beaten. Finally, the same things that are illegal here, for example running red lights and driving the wrong way on the street, are also illegal in the U.S.
But in the U.S. These laws will be enforced, so you will be ticketed or arrested. Be careful out there!
