So far I've downloaded a tar file (people still use tar?!?) which contains a whole bunch of files which are missing extensions, and I've tried a win 32 thingy which contains files which give me errors when trying to do anything. Some filter program borks win7's recognition of the PS3 pad and argh gently caress it. The whole libusb thing smells of linux geek superiority complex. Gently caress them!

Tar is very common in linux still. Or at least its common enough to have spent a week talking about them in class. The tar version was likely a linux version.
